Work hard and put up good behavior to unlock other opportunities – YEA recruits advised

Beneficiaries of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Community Protection Assistance (CPA) and Fire Service Assistance (FSA) programs have been advised to exhibit exemplary behavior towards their leaders and to diligently perform their duties. This approach is expected to facilitate the unlocking of further employment opportunities during their tenure of service.

In an address to the media during the official handover ceremony of 39 recruits, which included 30 Community Protection Assistance (CPA) members and 9 Fire Service Assistance (FSA) members, to the Dormaa Central Divisional Police Command and the Municipal Fire Command, respectively, Mr. Kumi Asare, the Dormaa Central Municipal Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), emphasized the importance of discipline and hard work.

He highlighted that these qualities are essential for beneficiaries to secure a place within the 30% quota reserved for YEA recruits to join the main Police and Fire Services, as stipulated by the government. Mr. Asare underscored that such opportunities can only be realized through humility, respect, and dedication in their roles as assistants.

On his part, the Dormaa Central Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Mr. Daniel Kwao Teye, advised the Community Protection Assistance (CPA) members to abstain from using their uniforms for personal activities. He emphasized that they must always accompany the police, as they are not authorized to make arrests without police presence.

He instructed that CPA members should not purchase any attire with “police” inscriptions to exert authority over community members stressing the importance of adhering to the rules and regulations governing police operations, and advised that those unable to comply should consider withdrawing from the program.

Mr. Teye assured them of the police’s readiness to support their work within the boundaries of police guidance. However, he made it clear that the police would not protect any recruit found in violation of the law, as no individual is exempt from the country’s laws. He also emphasized the necessity for CPA members to be punctual and diligent in their duties, warning that failure to perform their responsibilities would result in non-payment at the end of the month.

Several beneficiaries conveyed their gratitude to the NDC government for the opportunity to serve the country, revealing their strong aspiration to join the security services hence their decision to utilize the YEA programs to better equip themselves. They pledged to work diligently in support of the police and fire services, with the intention of contributing to the country’s progress and acquiring the necessary experience in the field.
