The Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has confirmed that the government’s long-awaited Women’s Development Bank will soon be launched to provide women with better access to finance and business resources.

She made this announcement on Saturday, April 4, 2026, during a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Anlo, Torgbui Sri III, ahead of the Norvikporhbe Za Festival.

“We have made significant progress in establishing the Women’s Development Bank, and I assure you that very soon, you will hear more about it. We needed to take our time because this initiative is very crucial, and rushing into it would not have been beneficial,” she stated.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang emphasised that careful planning was essential to ensure the bank meets the financial and business needs of women nationwide.

During the visit, the Vice President also expressed government support for improving education and services for children with special needs in the Anlo Traditional Area, following requests from local leaders.

“Equally important are the children born with different abilities or learning styles. These children are God’s special creation, and we must provide them with what they need to thrive, just like any other child,” she added.

She stressed the importance of training personnel, including teachers and healthcare workers, to ensure children with disabilities receive the proper support.

“We need to train teachers and healthcare staff so they can understand the needs of these children and provide the right care, whether in schools or hospitals,” she said.
