Seven people are in critical condition following a head-on collision between a taxi and a Sienta vehicle (registration WN-128-26) on Monday evening, May 4, in Wiawso.

A passenger in the taxi told the media that the accident occurred when the driver tried to avoid potholes on the road.

“The driver was swerving to avoid potholes, and suddenly we ended up in the opposite lane. That’s when the Sienta vehicle crashed into us,” the passenger recounted.

The Sienta driver also spoke to the media, saying the taxi unexpectedly veered into his path, leaving him little time to react.

“I was in my lane when the taxi came straight toward me. It was moving abnormally, and before I could react, it had already crashed into my vehicle,” he explained. He added that the poor condition of the road contributed to the accident.

“The potholes on this stretch are very dangerous. Drivers are forced to swerve, which leads to accidents like this,” he said.

The injured victims have been rushed to Asafo Hospital and Wiawso Hospital for treatment.
