We need a change of attitude and mindset to transform Ghana, not a military rule – Sociopolitical Expert
Dr. Christopher Ampadu, a sociopolitical expert, has responded to the recent Afrobarometer reports suggesting that an increasing number of Ghanaians support military intervention when elected leaders abuse their power.
Reacting to the survey, he observed that Ghana has experienced military governance for several years before ultimately choosing democratic governance, insisting that a return to military rule is not an option.
He highlighted the prevalence of corruption and corrupt related activities that were rampant under all military regimes in Ghana, as well as within the democratic governance experienced so far.
He has therefore urged Ghanaians to adopt a renewed mindset and embrace attitudinal change to safeguard the nation’s future, emphasizing that military rule cannot resolve the country’s challenges. Instead, a transformation in mindset and attitude is necessary to address and rectify the nation’s challenges.
Dr. Christopher Ampadu underscored the notion that a nation is governed by its citizens, and human capital is essential for executing all activities within the country. Thus, if inflexible systems and laws exist alongside lawless individuals, the nation cannot progress. He asserted that a transformation of mindset is the optimal solution and the church holds a pivotal role in molding the lives and conduct of the populace to secure a promising future for the nation.
He stressed that the church must function devoid of animosity and corruption to guarantee that all members are adequately equipped to propel the country forward in the coming years.
