A fire outbreak destroyed a water bottle trailer park at Suhum mile 44 on the Accra to Kumasi highway early this morning, leaving residents in fear and frustration. The fire reportedly started around 5:00 AM the trailer park alongside the road which the fire quickly spread through the store large quantities of bottled
Eyewitnesses say they called the Suhum Fire Service as soon as the fire began, but were told the only fire truck available had broken down. “We kept calling, and finally, one of the officers told us their car has spoil,” a resident shared. “So we were left alone to handle the fire with water and sand.”
The fire station is just a few kilometers away, but due to the delay and lack of equipment, residents say they had to form a human chain and use buckets to fight the flames. By the time the fire burned out, the entire trailer park had been destroyed.
Many in the community are outraged, calling the fire service in Suhum unreliable. “This is not the first time,” resident . “Every time there’s fire, they can’t come. This is dangerous and lives are at risk.”
Although no deaths were reported, Residents are pleading with authorities to urgently address the poor state of fire response in Suhum before more lives are lost.
