The Health Minister, Dr. Kwaku Agyeman Manu, who failed to attend an emergency meeting with Parliament’s Health Committee on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, is now scheduled to address Parliament today, Tuesday, March 7, 2023. The Minister will discuss the measures being implemented to resolve the current vaccine shortages in some regions of the country, including Western, Greater Accra, Central, Upper West, Bono, Eastern, and Upper East.

The Parliamentary Committee on Health had invited the Health Minister, Ghana Health Service (GHS), and other institutions to discuss the shortage of vaccines used for routine child vaccinations in regions across the country. However, only the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) attended the meeting.

The vaccine shortage in these regions poses a significant threat to children’s health and may increase their vulnerability to diseases that the vaccines are meant to prevent. The Minister’s address to Parliament is expected to shed light on the measures being taken to address the vaccine shortage in these affected regions.
