The British High Commission has announced the opening of a new United Kingdom Visa Application Centre in Tamale, aimed at bringing visa services closer to residents in Northern Ghana. The facility, which will begin operations on April 7, 2026, is located on the 2nd floor of the Pension Tower at the SSNIT Building, Tamale Premium Application Centre.
As per a Facebook post from the Commission on April 2, the centre will be open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm GMT, providing a more convenient option for applicants in the northern region to process their visa applications. This development is expected to reduce the burden on applicants who previously had to travel long distances, particularly to Accra, for similar services.
The new centre is part of the UK’s broader effort to decentralise visa application services in Ghana, making them more accessible and improving the overall experience for individuals seeking to travel for education, business, and tourism.
With the establishment of this centre, residents in Tamale and surrounding areas are set to benefit from reduced travel costs, shorter processing times, and enhanced convenience.
