Samartex are set for a managerial change as head coach Nurudeen Amadu is preparing to leave the club, sources have told Ghanasoccerenet.
Amadu, who guided Samartex to a sensational Ghana Premier League title last season, appears to have lost his grip on the team following a disappointing start to their title defence.
The remarkable achievement, which marked the club’s first major trophy and secured them a spot in the CAF Champions League, has been overshadowed by a difficult campaign this season.
Samartex’s performance has declined, with just four wins, five draws, and four losses, including three consecutive defeats. These struggles are believed to have influenced Amadu’s decision to step down, although he is yet to formally submit his resignation. His official announcement could come this week.
Appointed in July 2023, Amadu exceeded expectations by leading Samartex to the league title with an unbeaten home record. Reflecting on the triumph in June, he stated, “Winning the league is a huge accomplishment because the goal was to finish higher than last season, not to win the league. For me, it’s a dream come true.”
Amadu’s coaching credentials include stints with King Faisal and roles as assistant coach for Ghana’s U-20 and U-17 national teams. He currently serves as head coach of Ghana’s U-18 side.
