Sachet water prices remain unchanged after government intervention.

Sachet water prices across Ghana will remain unchanged for now, following a government intervention that led producers to suspend a planned increase.
The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry announced that the price adjustment, which was expected to take effect on Monday, April 6, 2026, has been put on hold after discussions with key industry players.
The Ministry commended the Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Association (GPMA) and the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) for cooperating with the directive, describing the move as a step towards protecting consumers and ensuring market stability.
In an earlier announcement, producers had indicated plans to increase prices due to rising production costs, including a global shortage of polymers and other economic pressures. The proposed adjustment would have seen prices rise significantly at both factory and retail levels.
However, following the intervention, the Ministry assured the public that sachet water will continue to be sold at current prices, offering temporary relief to households that rely heavily on it for daily consumptions.
Government has scheduled an urgent meeting with stakeholders on April 8 to address challenges facing the industry and to find a sustainable solution that balances production costs with affordability.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with industry players to maintain stability in the market while safeguarding the interests of consumers.
Sachet water remains a major source of drinking water for many Ghanaians, making price stability a critical issue for both households and businesses.
