The Ghana Police have declared three more suspects wanted in connection with the deadly robbery attack on the Berekum Chelsea bus and are urging the public to provide any information that could assist in their arrest.
The suspects, identified as Dauda, Huefe, and A.T., are currently on the run. Their identities came to light after police arrested two individuals involved in the crime, including the gang leader. The arrested suspects, Mohammed Ahmed, also known as “I Can Do,” and Bawa Gideon, were captured on April 15, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation in Atimatim, Kumasi.
The operation involved a joint team of officers from the Police Intelligence Directorate, Anti-Robbery Unit, CID Headquarters, and the Ashanti South and Ashanti Regional Police Commands. During the arrest, the suspects reportedly tried to escape and fired at the police, but they were eventually subdued and taken into custody.
Authorities seized several items from the suspects, including a pistol with two rounds of ammunition, eleven BB cartridges, pepper spray, a locally made weapon, desert boots, mobile phones, and a black pullover. Mohammed Ahmed has reportedly confessed to his involvement in multiple robberies, including the Nkawie robbery, the attack on a Fufuso mobile money vendor, and the deadly robbery targeting the Berekum Chelsea team.
Mohammed Ahmed is currently receiving medical treatment under police guard at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, while Bawa Gideon remains in police custody, assisting with investigations.
Police have commended the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation in helping to solve the case.
The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects are expected to appear in court to face charges.
The robbery, which occurred on the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso (KDS) road in the Nyinahin District, tragically resulted in the death of Berekum Chelsea FC player Dominic Frimpong. Frimpong had joined the team on loan from Aduana FC in January 2026 and was a rising star, having made 13 league appearances and scored two goals during the ongoing season.
