A pastor has been arrested for allegedly attempting to bury a five-month-old baby alive in the Abofrem area of the Atwima Mponua District in the Ashanti Region.
An eyewitness, Winfred Agbah, reported spotting the pastor and an accomplice at a refuse dump around 11 p.m., carrying the baby in a suspicious manner. When Agbah questioned them, the pastor claimed the baby had died. However, Agbah noticed the baby was still showing signs of life, prompting him to alert the police.
The Chief Linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu, confirmed that the pastor had previously told him the baby had passed away, which led him to direct them to a burial site. However, Badu added that he was unaware the baby was still alive at the time.
The police in Bibiani have arrested both the pastor and his accomplice, with investigations ongoing. The baby has been transferred to the Abofrem Clinic and is currently receiving medical treatment.
