The Bono Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Dennis Yeboah Twumasi, has disclosed that over 124 individuals are vying for the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) positions across the 12 constituencies of the region, with only 11 being women and the remainder men.
During an interview on GIFTs FM Morning Show, Mr. Twumasi noted that seven candidates have applied for the Dormaa East DCE position, nine for the Berekum East MCE, and ten for the Berekum West DCE positions. Additionally, there are 15 contenders for the Jaman South MCE position, 13 for the Jaman North DCE, seven for the Banda DCE, seven for the Tain DCE, and ten for the Wenchi MCE. He further mentioned that ten candidates have applied for the role of Sunyani mayor, 21 for Sunyani West MCE, seven for Dormaa West DCE, and eight for Dormaa Central MCE.
Mr. Twumasi announced that the vetting process is scheduled for the upcoming Monday, January 27th, during which all applicants will undergo evaluation. The names of those who qualify will then be forwarded to Accra for the final selection. He mentioned that approximately 70 percent of the Dormaa Central Constituency Executives, along with the Constituency Chairman, have submitted their names for consideration for the MCE position within the Municipality.
