The Central Gonja district of the Savannah Region is in mourning following the death of the Mujipewura of the Tuluwe paramountcy of Gonja. The chief was reportedly killed by unknown assailants in a suspected land dispute. The incident occurred late on Thursday, March 30, 2023, as the chief was keeping watch over the land for the Tuluwe paramountcy, which is claimed by both the Tuluwe and Kekpande paramountcies.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen stormed the area in the middle of the night, shot the chief, and fled the scene, leaving him to die on the spot.
