Medikal Champions the ‘Red Means Stop’ Campaign to Combat Youth Drug Abuse

Ghanaian musician Medikal has vowed to leverage his platform and influence to make a significant impact in the fight against drug abuse among young people. His commitment comes after being appointed as an ambassador for the National Youth Authority’s (NYA) “Red Means Stop” campaign.

The announcement was made on Thursday, March 12, 2026, during an official ceremony at the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment. The event saw Medikal unveiled as the new face of the initiative, with the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, and NYA CEO Osman Ayariga present.

In his address, Medikal expressed his honor at being selected for the role and shared his passion for raising awareness about the dangers of substance abuse. He emphasized that his involvement in the campaign stems from a deep belief in the initiative’s potential to create a lasting impact on the youth.

Importantly, Medikal revealed that he would not be receiving any financial compensation for his role as ambassador. “This is about something bigger than money,” he stated, highlighting that his priority is supporting a cause that can shape the future of Ghana’s next generation.

Medikal plans to use his music, social media presence, and public engagements to promote the key message of the “Red Means Stop” campaign—encouraging young people to make responsible choices and avoid drug abuse. The campaign aims to raise awareness about the dangers of synthetic drugs, particularly “Red,” and is part of broader efforts by the NYA and the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment to combat rising drug use among Ghana’s youth. Through advocacy, education, and strategic partnerships, the campaign seeks to deter substance abuse and promote healthier lifestyles.
