Joseph Bukari Nikpe, Minister for Transport together with the Deputy Transport minister

Inspects Tema Port and Jamestown Fishing Harbour
The Deputy Minister for Transport, Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, together with the Minister for Transport, has paid a working visit to the Tema Port and the Jamestown Fishing Harbour to familiarize themselves with operations at the two facilities.
During the visit, the team inspected ongoing dredging works at Terminal 14 at Tema Port. The dredging project is currently enabling the smooth movement of large vessels transporting clinker, the main raw material used in cement production. According to the Deputy Minister, the improvement is expected to address concerns about prolonged vessel waiting times at the port, which have been contributing to increased production costs.
At the Jamestown Fishing Harbour, the Deputy Minister also observed significant progress on projects aimed at improving the livelihoods of fisherfolk. Some of the key improvements include the provision of a reliable water supply at the fish market and the installation of a functional ice-making facility to help preserve fish.
In addition, cold storage facilities at the harbour are nearing completion, a development expected to increase storage capacity for fish and fish products.
The visit forms part of the ministry’s efforts to assess ongoing projects and strengthen operations within Ghana’s transport and fisheries infrastructure.
