The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Andrew Augustus Nana Kwasi, has pledged to resign and join the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if the latter reaches its target of 85% votes in the 2024 elections.

Nana Kwasi is confident that the NDC will make major gains on December 7. In an interview on Adom FM’s *Dwaso Nsem* morning show, he stressed that the party is putting in a lot of effort and that their hard work will pay off.

“We are going to win votes in the Ashanti Region. People will be surprised by the outcome. If the NPP hits 85%, I will join them. Even at 70%, they will still struggle to reach that target,” he said.

He also emphasized the need to protect votes but assured that the NDC would do so in a peaceful manner, without violence.

Responding to the NPP’s claims of major infrastructure development in the region, Nana Kwasi disagreed, calling their statements false.

“The NPP keeps boasting about their infrastructure achievements, but it’s simply not true. They keep saying they’ll get 85% of the votes in Ashanti, but that won’t happen,” he stated.

Nana Kwasi remains hopeful that the NDC will do better than in previous elections, where their vote share ranged from 28% to 29%. He explained that the NDC’s 32% target was based on careful analysis of their strongholds and the region’s political dynamics.

While the NPP aims for 85%, Nana Kwasi rejected this claim, accusing the NPP of bussing people into the region to inflate their vote numbers. He called this a “lie.”

He expressed confidence that the NDC will win a larger portion of the Ashanti Region’s votes and criticized the NPP’s Free SHS program, calling it unsustainable. “Enough is enough,” he said.
