A heavy security presence has been deployed in parts of Accra as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) holds its “Democracy Under Attack” demonstration today.

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service have been stationed at key points along the protest route to ensure public safety, maintain law and order, and manage traffic disruptions during the exercise.

The demonstration, according to the NPP, is aimed at raising concerns over what the party describes as threats to Ghana’s democratic principles and institutions.

Party supporters and sympathisers are expected to converge at designated points before marching through parts of the capital to present their concerns. The NPP has assured that the protest will be peaceful and conducted within the confines of the law.

Meanwhile, the Police Service has urged participants and the public to cooperate with security arrangements, warning against any acts that could disturb the peace.

The authorities say adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a smooth and incident-free demonstration.
