Accra Hearts of Oak will look to secure their third consecutive victory when they face bottom-placed Legon Cities on Friday night at the University of Ghana Stadium.

This match marks their first encounter in eight months, with the last meeting ending in a 2-0 triumph for Legon Cities. However, fortunes have changed since then, with Hearts of Oak currently riding high on back-to-back wins against Accra Lions and Berekum Chelsea.

Despite their recent successes, Hearts of Oak’s defensive vulnerabilities remain a concern, as they have conceded goals in their last four matches. Coach Martin Koopman will undoubtedly focus on tightening the backline to maintain their momentum.

Legon Cities, on the other hand, are in dire form, having suffered four consecutive defeats at the hands of Aduana Stars, Nations FC, Bechem United, and Hearts of Lions. Their defence has been particularly shaky, conceding in ten consecutive away matches, a statistic that gives Hearts of Oak an edge.

Historically, Legon Cities have had the upper hand in their head-to-head clashes, winning two of their last six meetings. In those games, Hearts of Oak have managed just one goal, while Legon Cities have scored four.

In the league standings, Hearts of Oak are 6th with 25 points from 15 matches, while Legon Cities languish at the bottom in 18th place with only 11 points.

This game represents contrasting motivations for both teams. Hearts of Oak will aim to continue their push up the table, while Legon Cities will fight desperately to climb out of the relegation zone. With both teams having much at stake, fans can expect an intense battle under the Friday night lights.
