Chris Hughton Reveals Targets as New Black Stars Coach for Ghana Football Association

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) unveiled Chris Hughton, the former Brighton manager, as the new Black Stars coach on Monday at the SG-Mall in Kumasi.

Hughton agreed to a one and a half year contract with a performance-based clause subject to renewal.

During his unveiling ceremony, Hughton explained his targets for the 21-month contract with the GFA. He emphasized the importance of short-term goals, winning football matches, followed by medium-term objectives of qualifying and excelling in competitions.

Hughton also expressed the significance of developing players and bringing them through the system, particularly for a team that played in the World Cup with the youngest team.

In addition, Hughton promised to keep a keen eye on the local league and would be spending more time in Ghana, watching games and paying attention to every detail.

His first game in charge will be against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on March 23, 2023. Ghana is currently joint top of the Group E table with four points from two games.
