A Ghana Armed Forces escort convoy protecting 140 civilians was attacked in Binduri on Monday, 27 April 2026, by unknown assailants. The convoy, traveling from Bawku towards Bolga, came under heavy gunfire, resulting in the deaths of three civilians and one injury.
A statement from Naval Captain Veronica Arhin confirmed that the military repelled the attack, killing seven of the assailants in the process. During a follow-up operation, the military apprehended an escapee who had sought refuge in a mosque, recovering a G3 automatic rifle, two 20-round magazines, and 176 additional rounds of ammunition. Ten other suspects have been arrested and are currently assisting with investigations.
The Ghana Armed Forces have called for the public to avoid engaging with military personnel or security forces during operations.
The GAF extended its condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
