The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has successfully completed Phase One of the Government’s ongoing Transformer Replacement and Upgrade Program at the Nmai Dzorn Primary Substation. The company made this announcement in a press release dated April 11, 2026.

Building on this achievement, ECG is set to begin Phase Two of the project at the Lashibi Primary Substation, which is scheduled to start on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, and conclude by Thursday, April 16, 2026.

As part of the upgrade, there will be brief, planned power outages in the affected areas to ensure the safety of ECG personnel and the successful completion of the work. A detailed outage schedule, including specific time slots and groupings, has been attached to the release and will also be shared through ECG’s official communication channels.

In the statement, Acting Director of Communications, Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, assured customers that efforts would be made to minimize both the duration and impact of the outages.

ECG is encouraging customers to plan accordingly during this period.

“This upgrade is a key part of the Government’s broader initiative to strengthen infrastructure, reduce system overloads, and provide more reliable electricity services,” the statement read. “ECG deeply appreciates the public’s patience, cooperation, and understanding as these critical improvements are carried out.”
