Dreams FC secured a spot in the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup after defeating Legon Cities FC 1-0 in a hard-fought quarter-final encounter at the Theatre of Dreams on Friday.
The match had been evenly contested for much of the regulation time, with neither team able to create any clear-cut chances.
However, the game came to life in extra time when Dreams’ right-back, Ebenezer Adade, produced a moment of magic in the 102nd minute.
Adade embarked on a daring run into the Legon Cities box, winning the ball off Adu Meider, before firing a low shot into the bottom corner of the net to seal the win for Dreams.
The Still Believe had started the game brightly, with Simba coming close to breaking the deadlock in the 15th minute. However, Legon Cities gradually grew into the game and threatened to take the lead as the match wore on.
Both teams had their fair share of possession, but neither was able to find the back of the net, leading to a goalless draw at the end of regulation time.
With Dreams’ victory, they have now reached the semi-finals of the competition for the second consecutive year. Last year, they were eliminated at the same stage by eventual winners Hearts of Oak.
Dreams will now await the winners of the other quarter-final ties, which will be played on Saturday and Sunday, to discover who they will face in the semi-finals.
