DR AMAGASHIE CALLS ON GHANA GOVERNMENT TO SET UP A FUND TO PROMOTE TRADITIONAL HERBAL MEDICINE

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of Dr. Amagashie Herbal Center, Apostle Dr. Samuel Amagashie has made appealing to the government to set up a development fund to support the herbal industry to make it thrive and earn foreign exchange.

 

According to Dr. Amagashie, such fund could be used to support research and development activities, put up physical infrastructure and procure other logistics to enhance the quality of herbal products.

 

He stated also that, traditional herbal sector was made up of indigenous people who had little or no resource to develop the knowledge hence the call for a dedicated fund to support them.

 

He stressed again that, one of the most biggest challenges impeding the smooth sail of their operations was the high cost of a sets of tests that herbal products had to go through that include efficacy, chronic toxicity and stability.

 

Dr. Amagashie explained further that, president of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Ministry of health as well as the Director of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to take steps to ensure that herbal practitioners included herbal medicine in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
