CLOGSAG Issues Two-Week Ultimatum to Government Over Delayed Salary Structure

‎Written by KPABITEY A J PRINCE

‎The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has given the government a two-week deadline to implement a new salary structure or face a nationwide strike.

‎In a strongly worded letter dated June 12, 2025, and addressed to the Minister of Labour, Employment and Labour Relations, the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) expressed deep frustration over the government’s continued delay in fulfilling key agreements, including a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on improved conditions of service.

‎According to the statement, CLOGSAG has consistently engaged the Ministry on the matter, referencing earlier letters sent on December 20, 2024, and May 6, 2025, demanding implementation of the revised salary regime for its members.

‎An emergency NEC meeting held on June 12 resolved that government must begin the implementation process by June 30, 2025. The union warned that failure to do so will trigger a nationwide industrial action.

‎Within two weeks, that is from Monday, 16th June 2025 up to 30th June 2025, CLOGSAG expects a positive response from government,” the letter emphasized. “Failure to initiate implementation, the Association would have no other option than to embark on a nationwide strike.”

‎The letter, signed by CLOGSAG Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo, was also copied to key institutions, including the Chief of Staff, the Civil Service Council, and the Local Government Service Council.

‎CLOGSAG stressed that the persistent delay in implementing the agreed salary structure is unacceptable, especially in the face of rising economic pressures. The union called on government to act swiftly to address the legitimate demands of civil and local government staff across the country.
