Gospel Musician Great Ampong Warns Against Eating Grasscutters and Other “Unclean” Animals
Great Ampong, a veteran gospel musician, has advised Christians to refrain from eating certain types of animals, including grasscutters, as prescribed in the Old Testament. In an interview with Cape Coast-based Property Radio, the musician cited Leviticus chapter 7 verse 8, which lists animals considered “clean” and “unclean” by God. He warned that whoever disobeys this instruction is likely to end up in hell.
Grasscutters, also known as “akrantie” in Ghana, are a popular source of protein in many Ghanaian eateries. However, according to Great Ampong, Christians should avoid consuming such bush meat. He also cautioned against eating pork, which he believes is a “simple location for demonic possession.”
Great Ampong’s warning comes in the wake of a similar statement by fellow gospel artist Sonnie Badu, who advised Christians to be cautious when consuming certain types of animals. Badu claimed that some animals, especially pigs, were designated as unclean by the Bible and could make Christians vulnerable to spiritual attacks.
Great Ampong echoed this sentiment, stating that “the devil must first gauge your spiritual appetite in order to reach you.” He urged Christians to be mindful of what they eat and avoid impure food, which could give demons easy access to their spirit. He added that devils typically prey on individuals who consume impure food, and once they learn that someone has eaten something impure, they will attempt to gain access to their spirit.
In conclusion, Great Ampong’s warning serves as a reminder for Christians to be mindful of what they eat and to avoid consuming animals deemed unclean by God. By doing so, they can protect themselves from spiritual attacks and maintain a pure spirit.
