The Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, has called on traditional leaders to play a stronger role in holding public officials accountable for development projects in their communities.
The Minister made the call during a People’s Accountability Forum held at Twifo Mampong in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region.
He urged chiefs and traditional authorities to engage Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives regularly and demand updates on development plans and projects.
According to him, traditional leaders, as custodians of their communities, have an important responsibility to ensure that public officials remain responsive to the needs of residents.
As part of the programme, 48 lockable stores were commissioned at the Twifo Old Market, while educational materials were presented to support schools in the district.
The Minister encouraged residents and leaders to work together to promote development across the region.
