The Ghana Tourism Authority in the Central Region has temporarily shut down Fredumens Hotel at Moree Junction in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District over alleged regulatory breaches.

The closure followed an unannounced enforcement exercise by the Authority on Monday, August 17, targeting hotels and restaurants within the Moree community.

According to the GTA, the facility had been operating for years without a valid licence and was found to have breached tourism regulatory requirements.

The Regional Director of Tourism, Charles Buabin, said the action was taken after several attempts to get the facility to comply with regulations.

He explained that the Authority will continue similar enforcement exercises to ensure hospitality businesses operate within the required standards.

The GTA has also warned operators within the tourism sector to regularise their operations to avoid sanctions.
