The Ghana cedi has weakened slightly against the United States dollar after recording significant gains in recent days.

The latest Bank of Ghana exchange rates show the dollar selling at GH¢11.0055 on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

The figure represents a slight increase compared to previous rates, as the local currency gives up some of its recent appreciation.

The cedi had strengthened significantly in the previous week, supported by improved foreign exchange supply and reduced pressure on the market.

Economists are monitoring whether the recent gains can be sustained, with attention on factors such as foreign exchange availability, production and import demand.

Businesses and consumers continue to watch developments in the exchange market as currency movements affect prices of goods and services.
