Former presidential staffer Dennis Miracles Aboagye has called on President John Dramani Mahama to convene an emergency Cabinet meeting as weather conditions continue to raise concerns following the June 29 flooding.

In a social media post on Tuesday, Aboagye acknowledged that President Mahama had undertaken an aerial inspection of flood-affected communities but said the focus should now shift to immediate government action.

“Dear Mr. P, can we know the time for the emergency cabinet meeting today,” he wrote.

He said the meeting should be used to take “specific, clear cut decisions” aimed at reducing the impact of any further rainfall expected in the coming days.

“To take specific, clear cut decisions in ensuring the rains coming today and the day after today will not take our lives away like you saw from the air,” he stated.

According to Aboagye, with weather conditions indicating the possibility of more rain, government should prioritise measures that address immediate risks rather than wait until after another flooding incident.
