NANA ANSAH’S REPORT

According to the chiefs and elders, the companies allegedly registered the whole Buduburam land in their names at the Lands Commission and are threatening to demolish structures within the community.

Addressing the media, Nana Kwesi Panyin, Who spoke on behalf of sub chiefs in buduburam stated that, checks conducted at the Lands Commission revealed that the lands were registered by the company in 2022, despite the fact that residents and indigenous families have occupied the area for several years.

He explained that the companies are now claiming ownership of the township and allegedly planning to evict residents and demolish properties.

The chiefs have therefore appealed to the President, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, the Central Regional Minister and other relevant authorities to intervene in the matter.

According to them, the traditional leaders of the area have not sold any portion of the land to the said companies.

Meanwhile, some residents of Gomoa Buduburam have expressed fears over possible clashes should the companies attempt to enforce ownership of the land.

The residents insist they legally acquired their lands from the chiefs and possess valid documents covering their properties.

They also maintained that the chiefs in the area have denied selling the lands to any company.

The residents are therefore calling on government and security authorities to step in immediately to prevent any possible violence or bloodshed in the community.
