C/R: “I Will Not Be a Minister Who Sits in the Office and Folds my Arms” – Central Regional Minister Assures During Tour of 24-Hour Economy Market Sites

The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of government development projects across the region, stating that he will not be a minister who remains in his office without monitoring progress on the ground.

 

 

 

Speaking during an inspection tour of ongoing 24-Hour Economy Market projects in various districts and municipalities within the Central Region,the Minister emphasized that his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama comes with the responsibility of closely supervising government initiatives to ensure they are executed efficiently and completed on schedule.

 

“I will not be a minister who sits in the office and folds my arms.

 

My duty is to move around the region, engage stakeholders, inspect projects,and ensure that government interventions are delivering the intended benefits to the people,” Hon. Eduamoah stated.

 

He commended President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government for introducing the 24-Hour Economy initiative, describing it as a transformative policy that will stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and improve livelihoods across the country.

 

According to him, the construction of modern market facilities under the programme will provide traders with a conducive environment to conduct business while promoting round-the-clock economic activities.

 

 

The District Chief Executive for Twifu Hemang Lower Denkyira District, Hon. Patrick Fiable,who accompanied the Minister during the inspection, pledged the Assembly’s full support to contractors working on the project.

 

He assured that the District Assembly would collaborate closely with all stakeholders to ensure the timely completion of the market infrastructure for the benefit of residents and traders in the district.

 

Hon.Fiable expressed appreciation to traditional authorities and landowners for releasing land for the project, noting that their cooperation demonstrates their commitment to development within the district.

 

He also commended the Central Regional Minister for his hands-on approach and intensive monitoring of government projects, saying such supervision would help ensure quality work and accountability.

 

 

 

Some market women, traders, and residents who interacted with the Minister during the tour expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government for introducing the 24-Hour Economy programme.

 

According to them, the initiative has the potential to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, increase business opportunities, boost local economic activities, and improve incomes for many households.

 

The beneficiaries further appealed to government to ensure the speedy completion of the market facilities so that traders can begin enjoying the full benefits of the programme.
