Black Stars Fall 2-1 to Germany in Second Friendly
Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Germany in their second international friendly match, continuing a difficult run in their preparations.
Germany took the lead just before halftime after Kai Havertz calmly converted a penalty in added time of the first half. The goal gave the hosts a slight edge heading into the break, despite a fairly balanced contest.
The Black Stars returned in the second half with renewed energy and determination. Their efforts paid off in the 70th minute when Abdul Fatawu Issahaku found the back of the net to restore parity, giving Ghana hope of turning the game around.
However, just as the match seemed to be heading for a draw, Germany struck late. Substitute Deniz Undav scored in the 88th minute, sealing a 2-1 victory for the European side and breaking Ghanaian hearts.
The result marks Ghana’s second consecutive defeat in their friendly matches, following an earlier loss to Austria. While the outcomes have not gone in their favor, the matches provide valuable lessons and opportunities for the team to build cohesion and improve ahead of upcoming competitive fixtures.
Head coach Otto Addo and his squad will now look to regroup, address key areas of concern, and bounce back stronger in future games.
Despite the setbacks, fans will take encouragement from moments of promise shown during the matches, particularly the team’s resilience and fighting spirit against top opposition.
