Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central and a hopeful flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), recently commented on the need for Anas Aremeyaw Anas, a controversial journalist, to publicly apologize to all of his victims. Agyapong believes that Anas has caused harm to families and individuals through his criminal investigations and should be forced to make an unqualified apology to those affected.

A High Court Judge in Accra recently dismissed a lawsuit that Anas had filed against Agyapong, prompting Agyapong to speak to the media about the matter. He argued that Anas’ victory was really a victory for his victims, including those who lost their jobs or even their lives as a result of Anas’ illegal investigations. Agyapong went on to suggest that compensation was not enough and that Anas should personally apologize to each of his victims.

Agyapong also criticized Anas for defaming people to enrich himself and for covering his face during witness testimony. He claimed that even a Supreme Court judge had confided in him about feeling guilty for convicting his colleagues based on evidence provided by three individuals, including Anas, who had covered their faces. Agyapong concluded by urging Ghanaians to be bold in speaking the truth and to hold journalists like Anas accountable for their actions.
