Actor and politician, John Dumelo has announced his intention to contest for the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat for a second time. The popular Ghanaian actor made the announcement on his social media handles, stating that he is ready to serve his constituents once again.
Dumelo, who contested for the seat in the 2020 general elections under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party, lost to the incumbent, Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
However, in a statement released on his social media platforms, Dumelo stated that he is not deterred by his defeat in the previous election and is more determined to win the seat this time around.
“I am excited to announce that I will be running for the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat once again. I may have lost the first time, but I am not deterred. I am more determined than ever to win and serve my constituents,” Dumelo wrote.
The actor turned politician, who is popularly known for his philanthropic works, is expected to face stiff competition from his opponent, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, who won the previous election with a significant margin.
The race for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency parliamentary seat promises to be an interesting one, as both candidates are expected to embark on vigorous campaigns to woo the electorate.
