Salam Mustapha has withdrawn from the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Organiser race, citing circumstances beyond his control.
In a statement dated September 9, 2026, Mustapha said the decision was difficult despite the support he had received from party members, delegates and well-wishers.
“Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am unable to continue with my candidature,” he said.
He, however, reaffirmed his commitment to the NPP and said he would continue supporting the party’s rebuilding efforts and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s bid to become president.
“Political positions may come and go, but our commitment to the NPP and the future of our Party must remain greater than any individual ambition,” he added.
