A newborn baby has been found abandoned in a dustbin at the Kasoa Main Station public toilet in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.
The baby was discovered by a woman who had gone to the facility to ease herself.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman was shocked to find the newborn inside the dustbin and raised an alarm.
Some commercial drivers and bystanders who responded to the situation quickly helped rescue the baby and rushed her to the Kasoa Polyclinic for medical attention.
The baby has since been admitted to the facility, where she is receiving treatment and is reported to be in the care of medical personnel.
The matter has been reported to the police, who have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the abandonment and identify the person responsible.
Eyewitnesses who were present at the scene have also been speaking to the media about what they saw and how the baby was rescued.
