Russia has increased its annual scholarship allocation for Ghanaian students from 120 to 240, with priority given to key areas including artificial intelligence, engineering, petroleum sciences and pharmaceuticals.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, following engagements during his official visit to Russia.
According to the Minister, the increase will provide more opportunities for Ghanaian students to pursue higher education and specialised training in strategic fields.
He added that Ghana and Russia are also exploring deeper cooperation in areas such as energy, including plans to support Ghana’s efforts to add nuclear power to its energy mix.
The two countries are also expected to strengthen collaboration on issues including climate change, counterterrorism and international cooperation.
The increased scholarship slots are expected to benefit more Ghanaian students seeking opportunities to study abroad.
