“I am not a lazy lawyer; I am simply upholding the rules governing legal vacation,” former Attorney-General and lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, has stated.

Mr. Atta Akyea explained that his decision to observe the legal vacation period should not be interpreted as a lack of commitment to his professional duties. He insisted that lawyers, like other professionals, are required to respect established procedures within the legal system.

According to him, legal vacation exists for a reason and must be observed to allow members of the legal profession the opportunity to rest, prepare, and manage their schedules effectively.

“I am not avoiding my responsibilities. I am only following the rules and traditions of the legal profession,” he said.

His comments come amid discussions over the role of lawyers during the legal vacation period and whether certain legal matters should proceed despite the break.
