The University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) has denied allegations of poor medical care levelled against the facility by Ghanaian-American comedian Michael Blackson, following a public dispute over the treatment of his mother.
Michael Blackson, in a series of comments, expressed concerns about his experience at the hospital, alleging that his family was dissatisfied with the care provided. His remarks sparked discussions on social media, with many calling for accountability and improved standards in Ghana’s healthcare system.
Responding to the claims, UGMC rejected allegations of negligence, insisting that it remains committed to providing quality healthcare services to patients. The hospital maintained that it follows professional medical procedures and standards in the delivery of care.
The medical facility also disclosed that an alleged assault incident connected to the matter has been reported to the Ghana Police Service for investigation.
UGMC said it welcomes proper channels for addressing concerns and assured the public that it will cooperate with relevant authorities to resolve the matter.
The controversy has since reignited conversations about patient experiences, healthcare accountability, and the importance of resolving medical concerns through appropriate investigative processes.
