The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results of candidates who participated in the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates.
According to the Council, the results will be sent to schools through the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education. Candidates can also access their results through WAEC’s official website.
A total of 620,243 candidates from 20,789 schools registered for the examination, comprising 304,415 males and 315,828 females. The candidates included 136 persons with visual impairment, 282 with hearing assessment needs, and 510 others requiring special test accommodations.
The examination was conducted at 2,237 centres nationwide, with 3,601 registered candidates recorded as absent.
WAEC also announced sanctions against candidates and schools involved in examination irregularities following investigations into reported cases.
The Council said the Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee approved the cancellation of subject results for 496 candidates, while the entire results of 105 candidates were cancelled.
Additionally, the subject results of 2,722 candidates from 229 schools have been withheld pending further investigations, while the entire results of 48 candidates have also been withheld.
WAEC noted that the withheld results may either be cancelled or released depending on the outcome of investigations, which are expected to be concluded by August 31, 2026.
Affected candidates have been directed to visit WAEC’s irregularity portal to check the reasons for the action taken and receive further instructions where necessary. Heads of schools and proprietors can also use their results listing logins to verify the status of affected candidates.
The Council cautioned the public against fraudsters who claim they can alter examination results for money, stressing that WAEC results are secure and can be authenticated.
WAEC expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, security agencies, school heads, supervisors, invigilators, examiners and other stakeholders for their support in ensuring the successful conduct and release of the examination results.
