The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, met with the Minority Caucus on Wednesday, May 20, ahead of the resumption of the Second Meeting of the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament. The meeting aimed to chart a strategic path forward for both the party and the nation.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of rebuilding the party and offering credible alternatives while holding the government accountable. “Our focus is to rebuild and offer credible alternatives and to hold the government accountable,” he said, urging MPs to embrace unity and evidence-based leadership both inside and outside Parliament.
He further stressed that the work to restore public confidence and secure a better future for Ghana starts immediately. According to Dr. Bawumia, the period of post-election reflection following the NPP’s 2024 defeat is over.
“The focus must now shift toward rebuilding public trust and presenting the NPP as a credible alternative government. We have finished the period of introspection. We must now position ourselves credibly as a party preparing to govern from January 7, 2029,” he stated.
