GNFS RESPONDS TO DIESEL TANKER ACCIDENT AT ASUBOI

The Suhum Municipal Fire Station responded to a road traffic accident involving a DAF fuel tanker carrying 54,000 litres of diesel at Asuboi on the Accra–Kumasi Highway on Tuesday, 19th May 2026.

A distress call was received at 1342hrs, and a crew of eight led by STNOI Antwi Forson, accompanied by LFM Nyade Gilbert Tettey, was dispatched at 1345hrs. On arrival at 1357hrs, the team found the tanker, registration number GM 5938-21, had veered off the road but remained on its wheels in a nearby bush. A search confirmed no persons were trapped or injured.

According to the driver, the accident occurred after two middle tyres burst, causing loss of steering control. No casualties were recorded, the tanker sustained partial damage. The crew secured the scene and returned to base at 1451hrs.
