The demonstration, titled “Yen Suro Ahunahuna,” which translates to “We are not afraid of intimidation,” is expected to attract NPP supporters, sympathizers, and locals from across the region.

The protest stems from the arrest of the party’s Sunyani East Communications Officer, Abubakar Yakubu, also known as Baba Amando. NPP officials have raised concerns over the circumstances of his detention, which they claim threaten the protection of fundamental rights such as freedom of speech and political expression.

Regional leaders of the party have called the arrest alarming and are demanding more transparency from law enforcement. They argue that the protest represents a broader effort to defend democratic values, civil rights, and the rule of law.

In response, the Ghana Police Service has assured the public that sufficient security measures are in place to maintain peace during the demonstration. They have also urged participants to cooperate with the authorities and follow the regulations governing public protests.
