Raise Children to Be God-Fearing – Nana Adu I

By Joseph Nana Yaw Cobbina
The Regent of Tarkwa, Nana Adu I, has urged parents to raise their children with strong moral values and a fear of God to secure a better future for society.
Speaking at a food bazaar during the Tarkwa Expo commemoration, Nana Adu I emphasized that the youth must stay away from negative lifestyles that could destroy their promising futures.
He warned that authorities would take firm action against individuals engaging in misconduct within the community.
“The situation is worrying and is affecting our society,” he noted.
Nana Adu I stressed that discipline begins at home, advising parents to take responsibility for correcting their children when they go wrong.
According to him, the government alone cannot instill discipline in young people.
He explained that issues such as illicit drug abuse are sometimes linked to broken homes, but also to peer pressure and poor personal choices.
The Regent further encouraged parents to teach their children how to live responsibly within society and to instill in them strong moral and religious values.
“When children are raised with the fear of God, they grow to become responsible and productive members of society,” he said.
He also urged young people to avoid bad company and “ghetto lifestyles,” warning that such choices could ruin their future.
Nana Adu I added that many children tend to behave well in his presence because he does not tolerate indiscipline in the municipality.
Highlighting the potential of the Tarkwa Nsuaem area, he noted its rich mineral resources and vibrant cultural heritage, encouraging the youth to take advantage of the opportunities and blessings available to them.
He cautioned that poor upbringing could lead children to become a burden on the very society built by their ancestors.
“The ancestors are watching over us, and it is our responsibility to preserve our traditions and heritage for future generations,” he concluded.
