Two confirmed dead as rescue efforts continue at the site of a collapsed three-storey building in Accra New Town. The incident occurred earlier today at an incomplete structure within the premises of the Accra New Town Experimental Basic School, a site also used by Christian worshippers on Sundays.
As of now, 14 people have been rescued, and emergency responders, including the Ghana Police Service, NADMO, and the Fire Service, are working tirelessly into the night, using floodlights and specialized equipment. Some victims have been heard calling for help beneath the rubble, heightening the urgency of the situation.
The cause of the collapse is still unknown, but residents and bystanders initially assisted in rescuing victims with bare hands and basic tools before emergency teams arrived. Authorities confirm that several people may still be trapped, and rescue operations will continue throughout the night.
