Government to Crack Down on Unlicensed Courier Services Starting April 1, 2026
The Government of Ghana has announced a nationwide crackdown on unlicensed courier operators, set to begin on April 1, 2026. This move follows the launch of the Integrated Courier and Logistics Management System–Ghana (ICOLMS-Ghana), a digital platform aimed at regulating courier services and enhancing e-commerce activities in the country. The Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission will oversee the enforcement.
During the launch of ICOLMS-Ghana on March 12, 2026, Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, stated that courier operators have been given a final grace period to register and integrate their operations with the platform. The grace period runs from March 12 to March 31, 2026, offering courier companies and individual delivery riders 19 days to comply.
Mr. George warned that failure to register with the platform within this period would result in regulatory sanctions. “If you fail to do that, it will attract regulatory sanctions,” he cautioned, urging all existing courier companies to integrate their systems to avoid penalties.
The Minister also highlighted that enforcement would be conducted in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service. “Enforcement with the Ghana Police Service will start on April 1, 2026, and there will be no moratorium. There will be no excuses. I will not intervene, I make a solemn pledge,” he stated.
