Ghana Air Force Receives Airbus H175 Helicopter to Boost Defence Operations
The Ghana Air Force has taken delivery of a new Airbus H175 helicopter from France as part of efforts to modernise the Ghana Armed Forces and strengthen the country’s defence and emergency response capabilities.
The acquisition forms part of a broader defence modernisation plan approved by the Parliament of Ghana to upgrade the operational capacity of the military, particularly the Air Force.

The multi-mission helicopter is expected to support a wide range of operations including troop transport, search and rescue missions, medical evacuation, and disaster relief operations across the country.
Defence officials say the addition of the advanced aircraft will significantly improve the Air Force’s ability to respond quickly to national security threats and humanitarian emergencies.
The helicopter was manufactured by Airbus Helicopters in France and forms part of a procurement deal between the Government of Ghana and the European aerospace manufacturer to supply several modern helicopters to the country.
The H175 is widely known for its versatility, long range, and ability to operate in challenging environments, making it suitable for both military and civil protection missions.
Authorities say the new aircraft will also enhance Ghana’s capacity to support regional security operations and assist during natural disasters and other emergency situations.
The delivery marks a significant step in ongoing efforts to modernise the country’s military equipment and improve the operational readiness of the Ghana Armed Forces.
