Lawyer Richard Asare Baffour has clarified that the anticipated release of evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, on March 3, 2026, is in accordance with Ghana’s standard remission policy and not the result of any special consideration.
He explained that under the remission policy, qualified inmates are required to serve only two-thirds of their sentence, while the remaining one-third is remitted by the state.
According to him, Nana Agradaa, who was handed a 12-month sentence, qualifies under this provision and will therefore serve eight months in prison.
He further stated that her sentence took effect retrospectively from July 3, 2025 — the date of her conviction and imprisonment. Calculating eight months from that date places her expected release on March 3, 2026.
The lawyer emphasized that the remission policy applies equally to all eligible prisoners and should not be interpreted as preferential treatment.
“There is no special treatment for anyone. The policy applies to all inmates who qualify, including Mama Pats,” he said.
Nana Agradaa, a former traditional priestess who later became an evangelist, was convicted on charges linked to fraudulent religious activities. The case attracted widespread public attention due to her controversial profile.
