The University Council for the Cape Coast University has revoked the appointment of its Vice Chancellor, Prof Johnson Nyarko Boampong.

A letter dated July 31, 2024 which has since gone viral on the Internet said his appoiment extension has been made void.

The decision to make his appointment extension void is a result of compulsory retirement age of public servants.

He has therefore been asked to handover to the Pro Vice-Chancellor who will act as Vice Chancellor until a substantive Vice-Chancellor is appointed.

Prior to the release of this letter, there was an injunction on an extension of his contract as Vice Chancellor.

John Mevemeo who is a resident of Millennium city in Kasoa said the extension of his contract was against the 1992 constitution.

The injunction sought to prevent Prof Nyarko from holding himself as Vice-Chancellor.
