The Omanhene of Twifu Hemang Traditional Area, Otumfuo Amoah Sasraku IV has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare and the Central Regional Commander, DCOP Mr. Victor Adusah-Poku as matter of urgency intervene chieftaincy dispute in Twifo Hemang to avoid violence in the area.
Otumfuo Amoah Sasraku IV wants the police in the Central Region in the interest of peace to stop Abakomahene of the area, Nana Yaw Agyabeng III from installing a new paramount Chief
The made the appeal at a press conference organized by Twifu Hemang Traditional Council
“I am the only Omanhene of Twifu Hemang Traditional Area so Abakomahene has no authority to install a new chief” Otumfuo Amoah Sasraku declared.
According to Otumfuo Amoah Sasraku, “I am the 19th occupant of Twifu Hemang Traditional Council stool because I was enstooled on March 2020 as Omanhene of the area. It is not our custom and our culture that Abakomahene has a role to play in nominating a candidate to be installed as a paramount chief” he stressed.
He mentioned that during their meeting at the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Abakomahene raised before the house that Twifu Hemang Traditional Area Council stool which has three gates has to be rotational.
Otumfuo Amoah Sasraku maintained that his Traditional Area quickly opposed the move since Twifu Hemang Traditional stool has no rotational practices.
“Our stool has always been as it is because it is an old stool and not a new invented stool” Otumfuo Amoah Sasraku stated.
He therefore called on his subjects to remain calm and not to engage in any form of violence as his Traditional Authorities are resolving the matter between the Paramouncy and Abakomahene.
“We pray for peace and calmness in Twifu Hemang Traditional Area. I have already instructed our entire Traditional Area to stay calm and let us all be one and focus and wait patiently on the legal processes that we have taken” Otumfuo Amoah Sasraku appealed.
